Lighting and skimmer for a tank build.

Hey folks, I am currently building this tank : viewtopic.php?f=53&t=108524
and was going to go sans skimmer, but I got the itch for new toys.
I want to run a skimmer but as I search online and through the marine depot catalog, I can't decide on anything for a tank this small. I either question the brand or quality, or can't find one small enough in a brand I want.
So I figured I'd see what others thought I should do. The skimmer will sit in a 10 gallon sump with home made baffles.
I'd appreciate any insight as to what's trending these days as I missed MACNA.

As for lights, I saw a thread titled "Budget Lighting" in this forum and really like the buildmyled.com 24" fixture, but have used T5HO for years, and may still go that route.
Thanks for looking, I look forward to any replies.

Look at bubble magus curve. Buildmyleds need a controller to dim look at reef breeders not their value fixture. Or get a ati fixture and be done with it

Pampee, I was hoping you'd respond to this. I'll look at the bubble magus.
If I don't care about the fixture dimming, I assume it would be appropriate?
Cost is an issue... I'd love a 4x24w ATI Power module, but they are so pricey...
