led for 4 gallon

Hi everyone its catjuggler again. I just purchased a 4 gallon tank from finnex and im looking to do a diy led setup for it. I was thinking i would only need about 4 bulbs, two white and two blue. I was thinking about getting this kit and making it dimmable. http://www.rapidled.com/servlet/the-38/06-Premium-LED-Do-dsh-It-dsh-Yourself/Detail . that one is 65 bucks which isnt bad but i dont see a heat sink. What do u guys think? I planned on only doing softies (mushrooms,xenia) and maybe a duncan coral. I cant decide on what to get. Prices range so much for about the same amount of leds. I dont want to go to cheap but i dont want to spend more then needed. I would like to use crees, but since it is such a small setup i dont think it would really matter that much. Thanks for everyones time.
 
I have the exact same tank. I put a PAR 38 bulb in an articulating arm made for desk lamps.
 
Nice, how is the light from the bulb does it flood the room. its gonna be right next to my computer so i dont want to be blinded. haha. I really do want to be able to dim them also, so i dont know if thats the way i want to go.
 
I think im gonna go with a 3 led setup 1 white and 2 blues. I would like to be able to dim these seperate. Can u do that with that little of leds. I know i will have to have separate dimming drivers for them. I wrote to rapidled and they said they could only do a dimmer with a minimum of eight leds. Has anyone made a led setup this small. Thanks
 
looks good, I haven't decided on one of those lights or a 3 led bulb diy yet. I kinda feel like the par bulbs give off a little to much light for something that im gonna be on 2 or 3 feet away from all the time, but they do look nice. If anyone has pics of there tanks that are 5 and under with leds i would love to see them
 
A friend of mine built the most insane pico I've ever seen in my life. He did diy leds over it. Here's the build log.

Hi everyone, I found this led bulb and i wanted to know what everyone thought about it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110666585003&category=46314&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619 Its dimmable and its 15k. Couldn't find much info on it, but i did find one site that said it was good enough for sps. I doubt that but i figured it would be good enough for my 4 gallon mushroom tank. Whats your thoughts people
 
Haha. Well... someone liked it! I think it looks like it would grow SPS myself. 30 degree optics are no joke. That's a lot of light. The only thing I would be concerned with was the width of light you'll get from it. You may have to put this thing 12" over your tank to get the spread!
