Leather Toadstool Growth

My mushroom leather coral has grown so much that it is now getting very near the surface of the water in my tank. Will it stop its vertical growth itself once it reaches the surface or will it continue to grow and require being given away to a larger tank?
 
I meant toadstool leather not mushroom leather. I have heard of fragging the cap but can you cut away the bottom of the foot and frag that making the original a bit less tall?
 
I can tell you right now that my toadstool is huge like its not funny. had it since a little frag 7 years later is massive looking. It will stop growing up, but it will grow out and might get more top heavy which im starting to have trouble with and its leaning into my giant montipora.
