What exactly is a High Pressure Sodium (HPS) ballast. I have never heard it mentiond on the forum before. I recently bought one off the forum. It ended up not working but would still like to know what exactly it is and if it is even ok for a salt tank.

It is the kind of bulb used in warehouse applications, and Home Depot sells HPS bulbs and ballasts. I think the color spectrum would be tough to put up with - I don't know of any tanks running those come to think of it.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IT IS

Isolated Constant Wattage Autotransformer(CWI). CWI ballasts deliver the same features as the CWA versions, but include an electrically isolated primary and secondary winding. This feature meets the special concerns of the Canadian Electrical Code. These ballasts are larger and heavier than CWA ballasts, making them slightly less efficient.
