fluval edge

i was considering getting the fluval edge 6gal tank. has anyone had any experience with it??? ive heard mixed reviews.

I have an Edge set up and if you want to save alot of time and cost, you can do a 1 for 1 exhange on the lights with MR11 led's. I have 6700K LED in mine

just saw one of these at petsmart this weekend, they look pretty nice. i would love to see a set up usig it.

Just change the bulbs. It is that easy. I just finished cycling my tank and have 3 blue legs, 2 nasaria, and 3 black turbo's in it and a clown goby all doing quite well

i'd love to see some pics! if you have any that is! i am going to try to get one for christmas and set it up.

If you want to retrofit it with LED's, try Nano-reef.com. In the lighting section there's a really helpful guy who knows everything there is to know about LEDs.

Imagine seahorses in that tank, or suncorals. :) Or a bunch of crawling inverts that normally aren't seen because the tank they are in is too big.

Porcelain crabs, sexy shrimp, yasha goby & shrimp pairing, etc. Love that little tank.

I agree Marc, this type of setup I think offeres a ton of possibilities and from the looks maybe easy modification options.

Well I couldn't resist. I bought one and love it. Minus the lighting. I think it would be too dark for a freshwater. I set it up a few days ago. And I modded over to a 27w quad cfl. I am pleased with the results. I will post pics tomorrow. To show how it worked out. If anyone is still interested

this is with the old lighting(2x10w halogen)

my mod to a 27w quad CFL

I had to cut off the hinge on the right to fit the new light and move the pump over to the right.
also had to cut off part of the left side of the pump to gain clearance.

and 10w halogen LED replacement only no CFL

hopefully i am going to incorporate the LED replacements into the hood also to try for a shimmer effect and get some light to the outsides of the tank

Very impressive.

I know this thread went in the direction of the lights, but does anyone have a very established system yet and having any concerns on the filtration? When I opened one up in the store, it looked like the same filtration as a picotope or decokit. I guess if you were hardcore, you could utilize that back chamber to run piping to a refugium.

My wife saw these and wanted one - but she set it up as FW. I mentioned it as a seahorse tank and she sounded excited, so maybe she would switch it over one day. But, the flow from the pump is strong - even with it turned down all the way.

oooooh...a dwarf sea horse tank with it would be awesome if you could divert the flow so it is not too powerful in one spot. nice lil freshwater tank though, almost makes me want to do a small planted FW one but wouldnt know were to start with those, lol
