Eggs on gorgonian?

I noticed this cluster of eggs (I think) on a really nice gorgonian we picked up this afternoon. I'm thinking about trying to remove them prior to putting the coral in our aquarium, but thought I'd run these past the group to see if anybody can identify them. Any ideas?

Update: The eggs were very easy to remove from the coral and there was no tissue damage underneath so I guess it's a no-issue. I am curious to figure out what they are, however.

Kevin,

Those look more like a sponge or trunicate type of growth than eggs to me, mainly because they look like they had some extension outward instead of flat, like little siphons.
