Dreamchip LEDs installed in DFW area?

Looking to see if anyone in the DFW area has installed Dreamchip LEDs. Can you snap some photos? Talk about your install? SPS growth?
Need some info soon. Anyone out there?

Thanks.

I'm familiar with them, I know where to get the raw components, and I would have no problem building a fixture based on them. If you want to get the stuff I can help you build it.

$101.41 for the chip and all of the drivers required. The price is right.

What do the power supplies run?

They are included according to the web site.

Says:
Dimmable driver

4ps 20w dimmable driver

1pcs 10w dimmable driver 48W.jpg

See, that is one of the confusing things that keeps me away from the DIY LEDs... some like Steves LED and the guy in the thread you linked to use separate Driver and power supply, while others seem to be be an integrated driver/power supply.

I'm OK with 5 power supplies assuming I have an extra Apex EB8 on hand. I would have already pulled the trigger on this purchase if my stupid 210 had not attempted to come apart at the seams.

The reason for the multiple drivers is the ability to dim the different colors. The less drivers the less channels to dim.

Power supplies are a different story. They depend on what drivers you have. If you use meanwells they usually take AC power. There are other drivers like buckpucks that need DC power supplies from 24v to 48v. It all depends on the forward voltage of the LED's, how many LED's on each string, and the efficiency of the LED driver on how much voltage you need. You also need enough wattage to drive all the LED's. If you get a big power supply you can run multiple LED drivers off one.

Would a meanwell 48d be able to run each channel?

I believe so.

The specs on the meanwell are:
  • 24-48V DC Voltage
  • 0 ~ 1.3A current range

The specs on the dreamchip that I'm found are:
  • Forward voltage/channel: DC 31.5V-36V
  • Forward current/channel: 1400mA max
