Deep water sps - before and after

This coral was brownish purple when I got it. Since my tank is only 15 inch deep - this coral is getting alot of light - and as a result the color is becoming lighter.

I've become interested in the deep water coral for their unusal appearance (when compared to other acropora or millipora).

Looks good Peter! Still using those outdated bulbs?? I am thinking about trying the 14K Ushios, they look to be a true 14k bulb. Hopefully Sanjay will release the data on them soon.

Yes, still running AB 10K bulbs that's more than 2 years old. Maybe next September I'll tell you that I've had them for 3 years.

Things are still growing very well so no reason for me to change the bulb.

This makes me wonder about a coral I purchased in the frag exchange.

This has been rather high in my tank and getting lots of light, but has lost almost all of it's color. I know it's still alive as there is still polyp extension.

Maybe I need to treat this coral as a deep water speciman and move it further away from the light?
