Bullet 3 skimmer

Hey all I have a Bullet 3 Precision Marine protien skimmer and my problem is whenever I clean the collection cup and do a water change; when I restart the skimmer it always wet skims overflowing the top cup and filling the satellite collection cup causing me to need to empty it in just a few minutes. Once it runs for a few hours it will stop (or if I adjust the water gate but I don't like having to do that just to have to readjust it later). Is this normal? Am I doing something I shouldn't? This is frustrating to say the least.

that seems to be normal for becket and venturi type skimmers. This is one major reaso i switched to the needlewheel type skimmers. Adjustments to these skimmers are almost non existant.
