Bryopsis.... The battle/struggle is real!

<p>Yeah that's one I was following I figured it be worth trying the vibrant. Read people had luck with it. I've read contuninum also has high levels of ?lithium.?

I'm having issues with this and think it was related to my water filters going bad as it got real bad after the last 2 water changes. I am starting to work with hydrogen peroxide as I didn't know about this. My war coral is starting to get some on it also can I dip it in a hydrogen peroxide mix say 30/70? I ordered new filters and they should be here today so I will be following this thread, I tried to?treating with no3/po4 reducer/remover and used a full bottle and it seems to have gotten worse.

The link below has pics and video of Mex Turbo snails eating bryopsis. May be worth a few $ to get some turbos. ?Shouldn't hurt anything but the wallet.http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2554700

I prefer to spot treat in tank with H2O2 rather than remove corals. ?Personal preference though. ?I would go the Google route on dip ratios/durations.

Day 6We dosed?the?bryopsis tank again. (He will be out of town tomorrow and won't have access to dose)NO?change in the tank with bryopsis??In my tank it looks like vibrant is affecting my macro algae it looks like it's browning and dying. Fml.. bubble algae isn't affected lol..?

Day 8?He called me and said his 2 peppermint shrimp are dying or both shedding in the front of the tank. He said they are moving but its not?much movement, we are wondering if the vibrant (says invert safe) is causing them issues???Bry hasn't returned in areas he manually removed and he said it's not as fluffy as it was some of the tips are dying back. So maybe the vibrant is finally attaching like it should.?macro Algae has been pulled it was killing it. He has it in a 10g with small power head and his sump light not sure if it will last.?

Well I have been treating with peroxide for the last 2 days limited lighting no more than 2 hrs a day 10ML per 10 gallons and it has reduced the algae by over half, I did a 10% water change last night though because the blushing finger was wilting and plan on another water change tonight. I did dip my war coral in a 1:3 mixture as it was covered and watched the algae bubble :) put it?back in the tank and so far?it has been fine no color loss. I put the lights back on today due to the anemone's needing light?so I will see when I get home how things work and if I need to treat again. I have not raise my mag levels yet though as I don't have a tester for that and don't want to over do it.?

Alright I think I'll be just updating once a week sense It hasnt changed, tho not much new growth but don't see any dying.?

Ssindt, have you tried running some ROWAphos GFO? ?Phosphates will grow algae like crazy! ?I wasn't able to measure my phosphate level (always read zero). After running the ROWAphos with a little No3Po4, my tank is as good as it has looked since I first set it up. ?ROWAphos is guaranteed not to leach phosphates back into your tank once it has fully absorbed. ?I really wish I had pictures and kept better track of the time frame it took to work. ?I feel like all the algae was gone after 2 weeks, but it was probably more like 3! ?Good luck!

I have had Bryopsis for years.. I weekly do a manual removal and have it under control (it now only is growing on my returns and the side of one power head.) I have an old tank (over 8 years established) with some old tank syndrome (I don't care cuz my new one is ready..). I did get overrun a few years back and found a critter that eats the stuff. ?A tiger cowerie will tear it up...but it will also eat your zoes, star polyps, and majanos and aptasias (yea!). ?I was upset that he ate the good stuff but it fixed my problem. ?He died after all the stuff he ate was gone, hence i?get small patches still...

Update.??Somethings changing bryopsis don't look as green as it did and isn't growing as fast. Maybe vibrant is working.??Also this isn't my tank, I've made suggestions to them about running gfo etc. He don't?want to buy a reactor etc. So I suggested we try vibrant to see. Giving it another week then he wants to dose peroxide around 10ml per gallon to see if that helps. ??

I would not dose 10 mL/gallon. ?My recomended dosage was 10 mL?[per 10 gallons], ie 1 mL/gallon. ?I dosed directly into the algae so the peroxide would be mostly broken down before entering the water column. ?I think the standard dose for water column dosing (which I don't think would help in this case) is in the range of 1-2 mL/10 gallons.

You are correct I missed typed it 1 ml per 10 gallons not to exceed 10ml for the first couple days.??Update ?not much changing bryopsis is less green and more brown so maybe it's to the point of dying.?

Update, vibrant has slowed the growth some what.?found a new "end all be all" killer of bryopsis.?fluconazole.. ?I had him order some to try.?http://www.reef2reef.com/threads/my-battle-with-bryopsis-using-fluconazole.285096/Will keep you posted.??Side note vibrant I've been dosing in my tank with bubble algae, the bubble algae is turning clean and it's seeming to be getting less and less.??Maybe we are giving up on vibrant to fast but read the thread the stuff looks promising.???

Good post. ?FYI, Continuum is owned by Kent, who did the Kent Tech-M stuff years ago. ?His version will tackled bryopsis. And so will one product by Brightwell also will deal with it, and there seems to be some type of brotherhood partnership between Chris Brightwell and Continuum. ?So that's worth chasing down. ?I took a picture of their bottle at MACNA, but don't have it handy.
