Anemone

So I added an anemone to my 25 gallon tank (for my maroon clown).

The clown loves it! But, the anemone immediately moved to a dark spot in the tank behind a rock and now we can barely see it.

Could I have too much light for the anemone? I am running this light:

Any ideas?

That's not too much light. Anemones just go were they feel the most comfortable. You could try to move it were you want it to be, but most likely it will just go back were it wants to be.

Give it some time. They normally go someplace "safe" and then look fot light. Wait a while and see if it moves to the light where you can see him.

If that does not work spin the rock around. Just don't spook it!

I had a similar situation about a month ago when I got an RBTA for my tank. It turned out that the clown (1.5-2") was too big for the anemone (3") and it was harming it. In the course of one week, the anemone nearly died, now I am trying to nurse it back to health in isolation. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=880471

i dont think its your lighting, i had a bta under 65w in a nano and it actually ended up getting so big it took up a large portion of the tank. i also have a maroon that hosts it but mine seems to be very docile. here is a pic of when i first got the anenome and was sucked up in a powerhead.

wow! it looks like it recovered nicely... that gives me hope. it's been about two weeks since it shrunk, and a week since it's been in isolation. it seems to be recovering slowly. it's got more 'stubs' now than it had on the pic, but it's still pretty deflated the entire day cycle. at night, it swells up a lot, but mostly the base or foot. hopefully it'll recover.
