A Newbie's 65g Reef Build

8 month update-

Not much new to report with the exception of an upgrade to a pair of mp10wes so I can get my wave on. Lots of new corals too, mostly SPS. Had to start dosing b-ionic, so I'm looking into adding dosing pumps. Here's the latest fts.

On another note, the wife and kids are getting irritated that every time they find a fish they like it turns out to not be reef safe. Now they want a FOWLR tank. Yay! New build thread soon. :)

I love the Bonsi it looks great and is on the top of my must have list.

Also. you might see if Mark could build you a water top off box out of black acrylic. I think he could build in the shape of a triangle so that It didn't stick out so much and clean up the look of your tank a bunch. Looks great either way.

Here's the latest fts. Had a mishap with manual dosing of alk combined with a test kit that was a few points off and lost a lot of my sps, some is still losing tissue, and a few pieces weren't affected at all. Some LPS bleached while others were fine. Funny how finicky different corals can be. Some of the SPS started to STN and are still receding while some colonies like the birdsnests were gone almost overnight when it started. Slowly rebuilding. Started dosing kalk in the topoff rather than the b-ionic and for three weeks now ca/alk has been rock solid.

The only cony that made it through unscathed.

This was a blue tenuis that got trimmed WAY back. Looks as if it might recover.
