Sure Flow 1600

Just installed the Sure Flow 1600 mods on two of the Maxi-jets in our 75 gal tank and what a difference. Looks like two produce too much flow for the 75 gal LPS/Soft coral tank so I am trying different positions to see where I get the best results using only one. The way it looks now one modified Maxi-jet will take the place of three.

You can also configure them many different ways. Here are some pictures.

This mod is very easy to install and has a high WOW factor in performance.

Another thing that I noticed is that the temperature swing between day and night dropped 2 degrees. It was running 82 during the day and 80 to 81 at night. Now the tank stays at 79.5 during the day and 78 at night. Our 75 gal is not on a chiller and I did not realize how much heat the two Maxi-jet pump generated until now.

The Sure Flow kit is very easy to install. As they say it is “Plug & Play” so here are the instructions.

You can get the kits at Premium Aquatics and you will also want to get the magnetic power head holders as well.

Hope that this helps.

I found the DIY 1200's where way too much for my 75G. I'd try the mj600 kits if they have them for that size tank.

JUst ordered 3 of them.

I am going to put one and the existing koralia 3 in the new 75 gallon and put 2 with the koralia 4 in my 240.

I was going to post up to see if anyone wants to join in on it. I got selfish and wanted NOW hahaha..;

Beside I did yesterday as I was hurrying to leave work and want to get it done otherwise, I'll forget it forever..

I installed 4 of them about a month ago. They are plugged into a reefkeeper controller. They are on a 6 minute cycle. They have have worked very well so far. The mj mods that I had before broke props with in a couple of weeks. These are still running strong.

I have only one issue with one of them, it is making a little noise occasionally when it comes on. I think that it is from the mj mod magnet that I reused, but have not taken the time to debug the issue.

If you use the sure grip magnet. You may have to glue the bracket to the magnet. I just turned the magnet and bracket to where the weight of the pump holds the bracket to the magnet.

I found out about these kits from DaveJ post below.

Has anyone used one of the following kits? They are on special at Marine Depot. for $14.99. The special ends 10/11/2007. I thought about trying a couple of these.
Ecosystem Aquarium ECOMOD Maxi-Jet Pump Modification Kit

Something strange happened today, the Maxi connected to a Red Sea Wavemaker started running backwards each time that it started. Has anyone else had this problem?

Would this kit work with a maxi jet 1200?
