your water mixing/storage setup

ok i have been searching and cannot find what i am looking for.

Someone posted on here a water storage/water mixing setup consisting of 2 drums pump in the middle. i want to say it was sitting on a pallet.

so if anyone finds it or if it is yours could you post pics please?
heck everybody just post pics of your water storage /water mixing system.

Rob, I don't have any pics handy, but I can explain my system..

I have two barrels - a 60g one for mixing new water and a 55g one for waste water.

Once new water is mixed up, I wheel the barrel up to my refugium, and cut off the supply pump / powerheads. I have a large pump with a piece of hose attached that I sink into the refugium, and put the output into the waste barrel. I drain the refugium, then pull the pump and drop it into the supply barrel, and put the output into the empty refugium.

Once it's refilled, I turn the pump / powerheads back on. The actual water change itself takes about 5 minutes. Then it takes another 30 minutes to drain the waste barrel and put things back where they were.

hadn't thought about the waste barrel idea. i was thinking mine was close enough to the window that i would just send it outside with a pump

what do you do with your waste water sink bathtub driveway?

yeah it was yours (i know this now that i searched for it) i found the post (its much wasier when "water" is not one of the search terms)

albert, can you explain it any?

i am assuming one fresh and one salt?

I still am needing to get an RODI unit i am planning on filling them with 5 gal jugs.

it will just take a little while.

Yeah , there labeled Ro and the other Salt. They both hold 65 gal a piece but I usually only fill them to 55gal. My Rodi makes about 65-70gal a day but I usualy have water on hand.

I have both drums back against the wall and the ro line comes thru a hole I drilled. I use an old pump to mix the salt and to old mj1200 to keep the water from going stale. I have 2 banjo valves 1-1/2 with a nipple coming out. I reduced the nipple to 1 in. and use the mag 7 to pump water from the drums to the tank to do my water changes.

It takes me a total of 10-15 min. to do a water change on my 180gal.

Isn't that awesome? No more lugging 5g jugs around, and a water change that takes longer to set up than it does to actually accomplish :)

I use to hate buying water for my 150gal . I use to lug 6 - 5gal jugs with me and pay .30 a gal every 2 weeks at my lunch hour. Then go home after work and lug them into the house and do my routine . It use to take me 30-40 minutes to do water changes.

Now I turn the valve on and watch water flow into tank and clean up and done. 10 minutes tops if my dog dosent want to help.

the one problem i think i am going to have is that my tank is on the other side of the hose from the garage, its a straight line but its like 50' i am thinking i am going to need a strong pump to bring the water to the tank via a hose or if i mount the barrels up higher with the holes at the bottom will the water pressure do the work for me?

my plan is two barrels both salt mixing with something like a mag 7 or 8 then a hose connected to a T on the return that i can turn off the water going back into the barrels and open it to the hose and pump it out to the tank.

Pressure won't work for me. I tried it but had to put a stronger pump than a Mag7. It worked fine but it looked like it struggled to me. My tank is 18 feet away from the garage. I use a 20ft clear hose 1in I.D. I can't remember the name of the pump but it looks like the old Little Giant pumps.
