XM 150 watt 15k bulbs - is there something better?

I have a coralife pro 150 watt HQI fixture, and it's time to replace the bulb.

I was thinking the XM 15k bulb, but some people have said it has low PAR...

Is there a better bulb? I want good growth, and want to be pretty blue in color...

I believe the right bulb and ballast combo play a big role in out tanks.

There are a lot on bulbs out there. Check this site out and play around with different possible combinations.

Unfortunately, I've been there.

He only has info one 150 watt HQI ballast, and its a PFO ballast, which unfortunately I have a Coralife Aqualight Ballast.

Phoniex Bulbs come to mind, and there are quite a lot of people that use them and hear alot of good from them. You could try them out.

I got a few frags from Bygkid a while back and he used them without actinics. I was very impressed with them. Very nice balance. His growth was pretty good as well.

I really dig my Phoenix 14k's. I switched from XM 15k's and was surprised at how much better the Phoenix are for both growth & color.

I didn't like the the 150watt Phoenix bulb. To me it didn't look anything like the 250watt Phoenix bulbs on my other tank. I found it to be very dim looking. I ended up getting an AB 150watt 10k bulb and loved it. My SPS really took off. Of course it was more a pure white bulb but the actinic pc bulbs made up for it.

I was just about to ask about Pheonix 14k's... Question aswered before I could ask!

I'm going to try those and see what I think.

Thanks everyone!

i love my new phoenix 14ks.

They aren't as blue as i thought they would be. And my Monti LOVES the change.
