Wow, this is funny yet tragic.

My hawkfish, that I was praising so much in another post decided he didnt like his home and would try the overflow box. Sometime last night he jumped into the built in over flow box. The problem is I have no idea how to get him out. Its way to small to move a net around in and a trap wont fit because of the durso drain and the return. What do i do ?

I used a small net & squeezed the sides together so it would fit down in there. You can also use a minnow net. Just reshape it. good luck.

Can you drain your overflow down to a couple of inches then get a net in there, thats how I wound up getting a six-line wrasse out of my overflow once.

Cheers!

Not the best solution, but has worked for me in the past - I had a helper hold a net over the OUTPUT of my drain plumbing... Unscrewed my Durso so everything in the overflow flushed down quickly, and caught the fish when it shot out at the bottom...

after the second time i had to get a fish out of my overflow, i decided to wise up and cut a piece of plexiglass to cover it. I was told to leave a few air holes in it, but other than that it seems to be working well.

I've had that happen as well. If you'll pull out the Durso, the water level will be about 2" deep or less. That is much easier to catch a fish with a net then.
