Wires for a diy MH

I want to make a DIY halide pendant with a 150W double ended bulb.

What kind of wires do I need - what gauge and what insulation? Can I get it at any HD/Lowe's?

I'm guessing regular insulation could melt if too close to the bulb.

Thanks!

I would go with at least a 12g wire that is insulated from oils and stuff. That's what I used when I converted over from 150W to 250W MH and connected it to an Icecap ballast... Its pretty simpel because it doesnt matter which wires you connect to the MH. Just dont connect the ground wire to it, but rather to the reflector of the pendent itself.

You can get it at home depot. I would also get the flexible kind so that its easy to bend and shape and just tie down.

The ballast should come with some instruciton on how to connect it though if it is different.

i would use high temp wire which the insulation is made of fiberglass strands. We use these at work(i am an electrician) and you only need about a 6 inch trailer to get away from the bulb.

to be honest the only place i know of is an electrical supply shop. and i dont know if they only sell it by the roll. they may have it at hd or lowes. i will let you know if i can get you some.
