Will my fish trap work?

So I'm trying to withdraw a Lunar Wrasse that has become a bit large and has a taste for snails and crabs and pretty much any new fish i stick in there. I saw some of these 2 litre bottle traps and some of the acrylic traps online. I went to Wal-Mart and bought this clear quart sized (i guess) container and it's held in by a Magfloat, mostly. I had originally planned to hang it w/ the fishing line, but then the magnet idea struck. I've got a pull-um string that is about 5 feet long. I've put a piece of branch rock in there with a partial raw shrimp rubber banded to it in there. I haven't really feed the fish a regular feeding in 2 days. Oh, and there's a mirror on the outside of the tank. What more could a silly cranky old wrasse want? Ya'll think it will work? Any suggestions or comments? i don't like the white lid and I might try to change that. Maybe I'll go to Lowes and get some Acrylic something on the cheap. Total investment was about 4 bucks if you already have the Magfloat. ;) [smilie=wait.gif]

I spent $50 on one and it can't be better than yours ugh. the door is supposed to slide down when the fish in is the trap but you have to weight the door or it gets stuck. Anyway as far as yours, you will need to weight the trap down as when you pull in the twine it might lift the whole trap up instead of just the door. It does look doable for sure. Have you given it a test to see what would happen when a fish wondered in?

I have a nice fish trap I will sell you $30. Its just like the one TJ described.

Sent from inside the shark tank!

YES it did work! The first day the fish pretty much good in the rocks. Yesterday, though, I came home from work and they were all our swimming. I took my turkey batter and squirted some food in the trap and the lunar swam right inside and I yanked the string and slammed the door. :) He swam crazy for a second and now he's calling the LFS home.
