i've been meaning to post this sooner, but i've been out of town and just haven't got around to it - but pleased to report:

while we were out of town, the female has taken up the GBTA very nicely! :) i was still kinda worried, because in the mornings and late evenings we always would see the GBTA hiding in the back under a crevice, where there is not much light. but this weekend, in the mid-afternoons to our surprise, the GBTA would come out and expand very nicely into the light (as in the picture!). so now i am wondering whether it's been doing this every day - wander along the rock into the light for a few hours a day, and then hide back under the crevice at night (it seems to like this crevice that's kinda hidden). is this type of traveling behavior normal? in any case, it's a joy to see the female perc and the GBTA together. the male however, has not been accepted by the female yet (they are courting i think), and at night he floats nearby the anemone since the female won't let him in :)

It's hit and miss on t.percs. mine never hosted my gbta then I got a rbta and they took to that for awhile . now there not hosting anything.

on the bta I'd just watch out for it but wouldn't disturb it. It will move to the light by itself. Mine moves back in forth under a rock then full light. I'm up to 3 bta's & 1 lta.

I lucked out, and my True Perc took to my GBTA about 30 seconds after the two were put together...

I think clowns will host in anything. We have seen pictures on this board of them in clams, Feather dusters, and in my case in a frogspawn.

thanks! you guys give us hope :) nice pic too!

our percs seem to have "hosted" the powerhead in the corner. they usually don't venture too far from it, and they'll need to in order to get to where the GBTA is now. (it decided to hang upside-down in the back of the tank where there's no light! how are we supposed to feed it like that? i hope it becomes upright in the front where the clowns can find it more easily...)

I wouldn't enourage the clowns to host the Anemone until the Anemone settles down, but once that happens, I've heard of people getting one of the algae clips that looks like a clown fish, and putting it on a stick/string/whatever and having it dance around in the real clown's view, and "swimming" into the anemone to give 'em the idea...

Hey, stranger things have worked! :)

As mentioned clowns can be fickle. Some folks have had their's host with just about anything, others buy anemone's and the clown turn their nose up at them. My wife and I just bought a new anemone for her clown, although he has shown some interest he has not bonded with it yet, however he is doing 'the clown dance' as I call it. Goes and looks, then runs away, goes back runs away, grab a tentacle, runs away. Eventually, he should host, but will just have to wait and see.

ok, so it's been 2 days and our new GBTA is still stuck upside down in the back of the tank where there's not too much light and where we can't reach it to feed it. i keep telling the gf to be patient, but she's really worried that it's 'stuck' and that we should pick it up and move it to another place (though it would be hard to get at it with its current location).

how long do we wait until we should really be worried?

mostly the gf wants to BTA to come out from the back so we can see it better! :)

My GBTA one day took off into the rockwork, and I figured it was a goner, I didn't see it for literally months (I think it was around 3 months).

I wrote it off, figured it was history... Then one day this teeny lil' like 1.5 inches across white as a ghost BTA wanders back out into the light.

It got healthier, colored up, and proceeded to go on a rampage killing SPS frags, which is why it has it's own tank now, but they're actually quite resilient, and will generally go where they need to go to get what they need...

That being said, if at all possible, I wouldn't try to move the anemone itself, but rather if you get desperate or are still concerned, move the rock it's attached on. I know that quite likely would be a major ordeal if your rockwork is anything like mine, but.....

So how is it doing now? It's been a couple of weeks...
