Wierd.

got a new one 2 days ago for 40 bucks.... i think the guy said it was a moon anemone, a good one for clowns.

well its been 2 days and it will not hold to any rock....? i tried lightly holding it over a rock for 15 mins and it would not grip on and stay. it is alive. but when i try to feed it something, it grabs it and then lets go...? WTF? in the pic below, it is not attached to anything. ill see it hold on to something for less than 10 seconds and then it lets go.... i have moved it all over the tank.- in heavy flow, all the way to barley any flow.

the real name of this would be nice too....... i hate when LFS's rename the livestock. i sent the old lady out to get 2 clowns of her liking and a nem for there home in the tank. they said it was a moon nem...... dont know if thats what they told her, or if she was not listening to them...... thanks for the help......

Hi,

I would suggest that you not try moving it as that can stress it further, a healthy anemone will move to a place that it's happy at, without intervention. How long has this tank been setup, if this is a relatively new setup, instability may be part of the problem. Can you also post your parameters please. :)

Cheers,

nitates- barley a .03
nitrites- 0
amonia- 0
phos- -0.3 has a phos bag in it to remove any excess left
salt water - .23-.24
temp - 76
power compact lighting plus some VHO strip lights.
40 gallon fuge.

everything in the tank is fine health wise.

-2 blue w/ yellow tail damsels
-2 clowns
- 2 xenia frags that are fully extended
- 30 mushrooms (hairy) on one rock
- 6 on another rock as well
- some type of leather that has polyps that extend out on it.
- couple of polups of green stars.

- evrything is doing well except the nem. and i know its alive. i can see it move and stuff

so do you think i sould return it. he said i can tomorrow, but i want to see what you guys think. i thought clowns naturally lived in them...?anyways- i think it kept the food i gave it today.... never saw the food it get away from it.

Actually, the Sebae nem (Heteractis crispa), is an Indo-Pacific species. Natural hosts include Percs, Saddlebacks, & Domino damsels.

There is a chart at the bottom of the page linked above that lists 'nems and their natural symbients.

ended up taking it back..... i dont need the headache watching it roll around the tank. im just going to get a carpet later this month............

Hrmm.. that's like saying the doberman was too big, I'm getting an irish wolfhound.

Carpets are more finicky, and will chomp on any fish.

Sabae's move if they don't like where they are at. I have two clarkis that hosted in mine before I got my RBTA (i have 3 now).

My sabae was about the size of a baseball and is now about 20" in diameter and takes up a corner of my tank.

My seabae anemone got HUGE and had a powerful sting if touched on the tentacle side. My mated pair of clown LOVED it and laid eggs often they were so happy. :D

Usually most buy bubble tip anenomes, green, rose, sherman rose etc...I think Condy's are atlantic anenomes and clowns generally don't host in these, but every rule gets broken from time to time.

I got this SRBTA from Mickey and thought I might share a pic for all. Silversides here and there and food scraps. This guy only comes out during the light period. When the actinics are on it recedes into the rock work. When I introduce nems, I usually let them swim and foot themselves. Acclimation can take a few days. Also, I dose iodine for health and color.
