Wichita Falls

Mine is good in the planning stages of trading my protien skimmer for an algea scrubber and building a different sump. When i do the swap i will also fix the leaking bulk heads on the tank also considering rescapeing my rock not sure though that is going to be a pain in the arse. Also getting ready to start building my led light fixture.

So are you going to get rid of your protein skimmer Bj? Did something happen to your sump? That sump you have is awesome man.

I am going to try something else for a little bit there is nothing reLly wrong with what i have but most of my water is returned to the display before it goes through the algea so nitrates arent removed as well as they could be i think. And i dont know if i am going to getrid of the skimmer yet.. i am going to try it with out for a while and see what happens i mean really if you tink about it it mostly removes the food we put in so if it cycles through it gives everything another shot at eating. I have seen the setup somewhere else and it is working for him so i want to try it and see what happens.
How is your tank doing man?

Mine is doing ok, I stopped selling frags for a while as i want to see my corals grow some more. For now on if anyone wants anything Ill sell it, but it will be upon request. In other words, im not gonna have frags available for pick up if you know what i mean for now. In the future if i do ill just create a post, or make another craigslist ad like i was doing before. Besides that, nothing really new has happened in my tank. I still want a couple more corals i want (shouldn't be buying any more) but i want to wait and find some good deals. My tank is consuming a lot of calcium and alkalinity, ive been tossing the idea of getting a calcium reactor, but its a lot of money and im not that smart on it just yet, still doing some research on that. I haven't seen you guys in a while, one of these days when ever we can, maybe we can set up a meeting over in henrietta so i can check out your tank and critters on the same day. Have you guys gotten any new coral? I have also been tossing the idea of getting rid of all my LPS, but, everytime i think about it i feel like i have some type of attachment to them and cant get myself to do it hahahaha. I just need the room for the SPS. Hows Critter doing, haven't heard from him either for a while, hope everything is good.

Doing good here i have picked up a few corals critter and i are about to get a couple more frags. I got a maze brain coral but didnt put it in a very good spot in my tank so i had some tissue recession. So i have moved it and i think it is better. My next few weekends are busy maybe early may. Critte got a nice big aussie tusk that thing is awesome. His hair algea is pretty bad but he cant find a decent priced tang locally.

Well I took the plunge into the 8' tank world. It will go into our dining room wall once we get to that phase of the project. It will be several months before I can really get to work on it, but came across this tank and decided not to let it pass. So I have a giant tank in my way in the garage. LOL. Starting to try and figure out what lighting I want to put on it and save some major $$$$ so that I can afford it when the time comes. Any suggestions?

WOW! That is huge. I couldnt imagine a tank that big, it will definately look amazing I'm sure. I wouldn't know how to save money on that, the only thing i guess i could think of in terms of long term bills would be an LED fixture. I guess i would try to make it my self and save money. I saved a lot of money making my sump too, so that is probably another avenue i would take. The one thing i think i don't mind spending big bucks for would probably be my skimmer, ive always been stuck on having the best skimmer my wallet can handle for some reason. Wow, your gonna have a lot of fun with this, wish you the best!

Thanks grod and yeah it will be great. It is going to be a very low stress build and we will take our time and get the things we would really like to have. This will probably be the biggest tank we ever have and she and I both want to do it right. She is going to go to MACNA with me and we are going to look at all the options available. It will be an expensive build, but it will be spaced out over a long time so not to many big hits.
I have a lot of ideas about the sump and what I want to do. We are really thinking about doing th LED's. Loved the way your Sol's looked and the controlability that you had. We will probably go that route. As fast as the aquarium side of the LED industry is changing right now, we will probably have many more options by the time we are ready to buy lighting.

Of course, like anything else, support from the wife is always ridicoulously awesome!! I can tell that its gonna be an amazing build, and don't forget, if im able when the time comes, i wouldn't mind helping out. Ill probably get some ideas off of you for my dream build some day.

Thanks Joe. I will also keep you in mind. I have a spare 75g I am going to use, and I want to run have a frag tank and fuge also in the loop. I am researching the best way to do this right now. I also am going to run a algae scrubber. Any drawings you come across that would be helpful please send me a link.

My tank is doing good again!
Went to DFW over the weekend.
I picked up about an 8" rock half covered in Chips Acro and about a 2.5"-3" piece of blue/green monti cap.
Also picked up a frag of ORA strawberry tabling acro. All looking great!
....also picked up a purple tang....
For the moment, all is good here on my end!
Hope all of yours are doing good too!
