Why's my false perc so mean?

I bought a mated pair of false percs from the fish store about 2 months ago. They were both really peaceful and shy for the most part. When I went out of town for Christmas/New Years one of the two died. Now I can't even stick my hand in the tank without him beating the crap out of it. Also, he constantly attacks my mag-float while I'm cleaning the glass. He doesn't bother any of my other fish at all. I thought false percs were one of the most peaceful types of clownfish. Heck, my old Maroon Clown was alot nicer then this guy is. Anyway, what do you think made him so insane? Was it his mate dying? Or was it the fact that after she died he started hosting in my GBTA? I wish there was Xanax for fish...

Well, they might have laid some eggs before the other died. I'll look around but I haven't seen any.....They're probably on the back of some rock that I'll never be able to see

So I looked around and I didn't see any eggs. However, there are tons of places where they could've laid the eggs that I can't see. If they did lay eggs, would the remaing fish be hostile towards the other fish like he is towards me? And, how long does it take for the eggs to hatch?

They were basically the same size but I'm pretty sure the one that survived was the bigger one....female right?

Ya I will if I end up getting another. I'll probably let this one grow before getting another. She's only about an inch long. Assuming this is the female, could I not get a male that was larger than her if I knew he was a male? For instance, what if I bought another false perc a little bigger than the one I have now, but the new one came from a tank in which it was the smallest of 3 or so (in which case it would still be male)? I know they can change sexes, but only from male to female. So, if this is the female in my tank, and I got a larger male, would the larger male still change sexes? Or would they have no chance of becoming a mated pair and just end up fighting?

Since the surviving clownfish has been without a companion for awhile, it is more than likely on its way to becoming a female. This is a one way street at this point. To pair her up, you will have to introduce a proven male, which can be difficult, or make sure you purchase a "juvi," which will be not be either male or female. Once introduced with the dominant female, the "juvi" will turn male. This is the safest route to take. If you would inadvertantly introduce another female, WW III would begin, with possible fatal results.

You may be in luck if you are going to Next Wave. There may be 2 club members that will be there and have some tank raised ocellaris from which you can get a "juvi."

Edit: Just realized that you're in Corpus. Are you planning on coming up for Next Wave? If not, I'm pretty sure there are some members in the Houston club that are raising clowns. You could post an inquiry on their site.
