Who wants to build this for me? - Acrilyc

[I am needing a custom overflow box for my 24 JBJ Nano cube.
I am not a handy man, dont have the tools, etc... Willing to pay someone to do this for me of course. there is a good market for this if your looking to start a small business. Would be a great on Ebay or Nano Cube sites. Understand materials cost around $10 or less. I am looking for one like the one on this site. Just want it to be a little thinner. This one is for a 12G Nano and I have a 24G. Of course you can go to a LFS and get the measurments or come to my place in Plano. Let me know what you think and a price.

[That looks simple enough. I don't understand how it stays in place though. It must have an opening in the back to fit around the filtration intake...]

[Looks like there are just small "hangers" that go over the top of the false wall. It looks easy enough. This unit will only work by itself on the DX models not the original 12G nano. The original version has holes down further in the false wall too. The only downside I can see to this overflow is it takes up valuable display real estate in that small of a tank.

If you have a dremel and a couple bucks for some aquarium safe glue (I used super glue gel since i had it handy) and any piece of plastic around the house you can make an overflow without taking up display real estate. My cube is not here so I can't take pictures now but I'll try to explain it.

It's best to do before the tank is filled but if you don't have that luxury you can drain it to below the holes in the false wall.

Trim the plastic (I used a clear plastic report cover but you could use almost anything clear or black so you don't see it) large enough to cover the hole. Then put a continuous bead of glue around the edge of the plastic. Glue the piece to the back of the false wall covering the hole.

Now take the dremel and a cutting bit (I used a cutting wheel but shoulda used a router bit or similar) and make teeth across the top of the false wall. Don't cut them too low or you'll see the water line below the tank trim. I only cut them across the top of the 1st chamber but you could do more or even cut them over the middle chamber if you are planning to add a second pump in the back in the future.

That's it. Mine has been running since June with zero problems. I'll try to take some pics when I get a chance.]

[If you look close to the second to last picture the are little hooks incorperated into the overflow towards the back that hang on to the wall. Also his looks about 2 inche in depth. shold be able to make it 1 inch or even a 1/2 inch with the same results. I was thinking about sealing the hole and cutting teeth but I am afraid of messing it up. Plus my tank is full of livestock. But I gues if some shaving go into the tank or chamber it wouldn't hurt anything.]

[As long as you don't cut too deep they should be fine. Even if your handy work is not clean it won't be seen unless you lift the lid. An easy way if you don't want to attempt teeth is to use a cutting wheel and just cut a single large slot from the top of the wall. Then use some of the plastic mesh that the LFS uses in their overflows to act as "teeth". the plastic mesh is from Home Depot.]

[I think I have a peice of Black Acrylic in my shop I messed up on one of the teeth on the end, should be about 5 inches of good teeth on it.

If you could get me the dimensions I would add a couple of sides and a bottom and just send it to you for the cost of shipping since I just trash small scrap anyway, might as well use it if someone wanted it.]
