who makes this

i read in one of the forums about somebody who makes a float switch for on n off sump pumps if they read this or if u know who they r please contact me .....dave

There are many options in this arena, from cheap DIY ones, to fancy Tunze ones, to these:

I've got a pair of the double switches from that guy, wired in series, so that there is quad redundancy on my autotopoff...

(Cleaning up back to back 30 gallon spills can make ya' paranoid like that!)

This is my favorite switch. Its a mechanical float. Love it because it requires no electricity, just gravity.

I like is also because I think of it like the float inside the toilet tank. One of the best places a guy can go and think freely without interuptions.

I personally agree with phillip on the mechanical float switch.

I have been using the same one (different brand but same design) since 1997 and it has worked flawlessly.

If you use the mechanical valves in salt water you will need to soak them in vinegar and clean them periodically though to ensure mineral deposits don't cause a malfunction.

i am grateful for the help but i just don't get the kent thing i see it can work for water levels but in the stopping and starting of a pump in a sump can u enlighten an old dog thanks....dave

If your looking to start and stop a pump at a certain water level the mechanical float valve is useless to you.

Sorry, I read through the thread a little too quickly.

i second autotopoff.com...when you say sump pump are you talking about topp of switch correct...if you are talking about return pump that always stays on. A scwd switches the flow between two return lines

spend the money and get the double switch.

another satisfied autotopoff.com customer. as already mentioned you may want to look at a sytem with redundancy for safety purposes. I.E. nothing worse than coming home to 30 gallons of water on the floor...
