Is there any local aquarium builders? Or who do yall recommend? I'm looking to have something made and would rather deal locally if possible. Looking for rr 40x24x20 rimless with plumbing/overflow in the corner.

Planet Aquarium...there are a couple of them but they want you to order through the LFS also. Planet Aquarium is the one I hear the best reviews about with the least amount of bad!!! Others might have more to say.

Apex (or is it Planet?) Aquariums, Deep Sea Aquatics - both companies do custom work. AGE may as well, but that one usually needs to be ordered through a store.

I'm not sure who Apex is. I got a quote about a month ago from Frank's Tanks that said "Planet Aquariums". Is it the same? I guess I should call Apex Aquariums too? I'm trying to price out an aquarium @200g+ (hopefully bigger but still trying to convince the misses we NEEED one). She thinks the current FW 225 is enough big tanks!

Planet Aquariums makes custom tanks but they don't deal directly with the public. You'll need to buy it through a store. They do good work, though. I just picked up a new tank last week that was made by them.

What size did you get? It seems some places are great at certain sizes but then large sizes, they fail!!! I want Jared355's 300dd but he has several wanting it. If I don't go that route then I was looking at Planet Aquariums (Possibly an 8' tank).

Nothing anywhere near that big. It's about 50g. 36"x18"x18". [smilie=smile.gif]

David Varela all day long ... he has built probably 10 custom tanks for me over the years ... excellent work that is very clean ... I can't recommend him enough ...

I have two tanks made by Deep Sea Aquatics, one custom and one off the shelf model. I love both of them and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Thanks for all the info guys. I actually ended up finding a used 75 gallon tank that is perfect for what I am wanting to do. I will be picking up next Monday and will start a build log. By the way this all started with my wife saying I could start a small 8 to16 gallon tank after being away from the hobby for 5 years. I'm excited to be jumping back in. Oh and I just ordered the new maxspect razor 320w 15k today for the tank.
