I like the NanoCube... The whole back is even across where the Aquapod kind of indents and make is hard to reach in there for anything. The Nanocube also has 3 chambers as opposed to the two that the Aquapod has.
The only issue I have with these types of setups is everybody talks about how "sponges" are nitrate factories. So I don't use them. But then that makes it awkward for having someting that traps floating debris to keep the water clean.
At least in the nanocube there is only one opening in the bottom and I can put a piece of polyfilter there. I'm one of those who uses carbon 24/7 and change it weekly. So in the center compartment I have a net bag with carbon. If I ever decide I want to add a skimmer there is skimmer specifically made to fit inside the middle chamber of the Nanocube and still have the top closed.
With the Aquapod I'm still trying to get the filtering system right.
So hands down I like the Nanocube.
Just an aside... I ordered mine from DFS and after one week the light in the top went out. They sent a new bulb... didn't work... they sent a new ballast... I screwed up the installation (tried to be real careful but two wires were out that I had no idea where they went). I called DFS and they apologized for the problems, they contacted the manufacture and I received a brand new lid today.
