Which Eheim return pump

I have a 60 gallon cube solana. I want to
Upgrade from the quiet one return pump. Will
The Eheim 1250 or 1260 work? Which one? I want something quietier.

I don't have any experience with the Eheim pumps. And if you've already settled on the Eheim forgive me. But if your looking for a quiet return pump. You may want to try the Jebao DC pumps. I've been using one for almost 2 years with no issues. Super Quiet. Also, since they are DC pumps they are variable speed. My opinion in case your not dead set on Eheim.

Eheim is a good quality quite pump. A 1260 would likely be better suited for a 60. For a little more you can get a tunze 1073.05 it's a DC motor extremely quite. I'm personally not a fan of the Chinese knock off pumps. Some people like them and they work fine. Others have had issue, not worth the risk to me.

I agree with pretty much everything Steve said. I used an Eheim 1260 on my 50g tank for a little while but ended up replacing it (with a DC powered pump) because it took up too much room in the return section of my sump. But other than it's size, which probably won't be an issue for you, it was a good pump and I think it'd work great on a 60.

I'm going to half agree and half disagree with Billy.
1) I really like DC pumps. The lower electrical consumption over something like a Magdrive pays for the pump in a couple years. They are quiter. They are controllable. They soft-start.

2) While I'm glad that Billy has had good luck, design your system with the understanding that the return pump may go out. The Jebao's don't have the best track record. If you can live with that, go ahead.

Expanding on that a bit I put DC pumps in 4 categories

1) Really expensive stuff, Royal Exclusiv comes to mind.
2) Still expensive stuff (Ecotech)
3) Not so expensive stuff (Speedwave, Waveline, maybe Deepwater)
4) Cheap stuff (Jebao/Jecod)

Even in the group 3 pumps I've had quality issues (mean time to failure around 1 year, generally the controller or AC/DC brick). Most of my issues were covered under an ever extending warranty, or were cheap to fix. At this point I plan to get at least 10 years out of my pumps, so I'll be going up to at least an Ecotech (or external shaft driven AC) pump on my next (larger) build.
