Which DC return pump for 220gal?

Time for a new build! I am doing a 220g with dual RR overflows, 2 holes per overflow box. I will be using both holes for Herbie style drains and returning the water over the top. I want to use the DC Waveline pump. Should I get the 5000 or 10000? Also, should I make multiple return outlets or just one? I will have suplemental flow via vortec, jebo, tunze, still tbd. Thanks.

Send jdthomas21 a pm he has a big tank and runs a wave line dc pump maybe he can tell you which one to reccomend

Speedwave, WaveLIne, and Diablo DC pumps are all made by the same company. The company makes them and sells the branding to other companies. They are about to come out with one that is controllable by an apex, so I would wait for that.

I just bought a Tunze DC return pump, but probably not big enough for your application.

I am on the waiting list for the 6000 that should be in my hands by June 1. If you can wait I would get the 12000, if not pick up the dc10000 and you can always dial it down via the included Controls

Thanks for the feedback. I'm gonna stick with my gut and go 10000. Being able to turn flow down is sweet option. Any reason to put a valve on this also?

Nope, no valve needed, there is a total of six settings. If I can ever get my hands on a 5000 or a 10000 with controller I should be able to make an apex interface pretty easy ( I have my own scope, etc to figure out the signals it's sending) and that will be able to fine tune it down to the gallon theoretically.

Okay, I'll let you know when I have it. I will be setting up new Apex as well. Are you an EE? I'd be curious in the process...

Okay said:
Make sure it is a full apex can't be lite or jr if you are going with a apex driven dc pump

I am an electronics tech by trade so it shouldn't be to hard to figure it out. There is only so many options they have to control it and with as cheap as the diy electronics stuff have become it shouldn't take long and be cheap enough to be feasible.
