which controller is the best bang for your buck

im looking into controllers for my 300 and im curious to hear from the reefers on here that have used various controllers which is the best for the money i wont be using co2 since i do very little sps but i want it to do all the cool light stuff and wave controls basically who has the best package

thanks guys your all helping me make great decisions on my 300

I started with a reef keeper lite because it was alot cheaper than everything else on the market. I later upgraded to the elite because i needed to run more than 4 modules. It does a great job with a few quirks but if i was going to do it all over i think i would try an apex next time just to see the diffrence.

If you want to do variable wave and dimmable leds then full apex is the way to go as it comes with ports already

I have an apex right now, and it does everything and more, but i am really interested in the reef angel controllers, the possibilities are endless wih these things! http://www.reefangel.com/

I am planning to eventually get a Reef Angel because I like the flexibility. Anyone used one? It looks like the probes they come with night need to be replaced.

if you are computer programming savvy I heard this is a good choice but if you are not it can be a bit overwhelming as it is open source controller.

yeah this is true, but a lot of the stuff ha been figured out as long as it has been out now, talked with the owner last week for a while and seems like its def a viable option, but i am a little more computer savy, at least i would like to think so...lol

I used to be a web developer... so I'm quite computer literate. I programmed the reef angel to do the basic functions in one day, add another day for setting up the wifi... working for two to three hours each day while I was also watching a three year old. I set my Aqua Controller III up in about 45 minutes to accomplish the basic functions. I've yet to setup it's wifi however. If you're very computer savvy don't let that part discourage you. Just plan on spending a whole lot more time setting it up.

In the end I think it's better because it can do more at a similar price point, but I don't think it would be good AT ALL if someone isn't good on computers.
