Where to put an overflow on a 90G ?

OK, I'm ordering a 3 sided starphire 90 (48x18x24) and figure the best place for the overflow box / return is as close to the back center as possible.

Reasons being, I don't want to block any of the side views as the tank will have starphire ends and with a 48" tank I think one in the middle will work best for a reef tank ( mostly LPS and softies with med fish load ).

Any other ideas or thoughts are welcome. And since this is a custom tank anything is possible , just a matter of money.

I think you hit it right smack on the forehead. Put it in the middle so it's not in your visual way, and it will be the best place for filtration as well.

why not make the overflows attached to the back, that way it does not interfere with anything inside the tank. id gladly give up 4 or so inches behind my tank to have that extra space inside it.

Yep, it just takes money => http://www.exoticcoral.com/new_tank.htm

Not sure as this is the only post I have seen (not that I visit RC often), but is there some concern Starphire chips and scratches more easily than regular glass: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1279044

WOW! almost 4200 gallons in the tank alone, then 900 gallon sump, and thats not all, another 1200 gallon attached resorvoir for "temperature control"

crazy! lol, i mean, they are adding on to thier home just for the tank...wild!

no, i bought a stock tank, but when i was looking at glasscages i was going to have them do back overflows.

Other than that one thread I can't find anything on the net about starphire scratching or chipping so I'm not to concerned about that, Now acrylic is whole nother animal.

I dunno I'm kinda leaning towards a clean back as mine is quite visible in my fish room, not to mention I think those type of overflows can be loud ?
