Where to get amphipods

I'm looking to get some amphipods and add them to my tank as a part of the clean up crew as well as a part of the food chain. Is there anywhere locally or online to get a clean supply of safe specimins? I can find copepods everywhere but the amphipods seem to be much harder to come by.

I got mine from Aquarium Depot. Every once in a while they have a buy 1000 get 1000 free. So if you are not in a big hurry you may want to watch for that.

I found Aquarium Depot as well. I do have a few concerns about them though, they seem to get a fair amount of bad reviews on other reefing sites. From what I could tell all they offer is "Copepods and Amphipods Mix" and no specific names are given, which worries me. Along with the fact that they don't seem to know what exactly they are sending you other than randomly mixed pods.

I've always had great experience with them. I've ordered clean-up crews from from them and had som d.o.a. and they were quick to replace what was lost and they once refilled my complete order. As far as the mixture that is true.

Pods of all variety (amphipods and copepods) regularly fall to the bottom of whatever container I'm transporting my chaeto in.  $6 and a baggie of this delightful green algae could be yours.  I suspect the same is true for other people's 'fuges as well.If you have live rock from another tank I'm betting they are already in yours, just not yet at a critical mass that you see them all the time.

All pods that I have I have in this tank have been added intentionally by me. My rock all started off freshly bleached before it went into this tank, and all frags that go in get a Bayer dip, which should kill all the baddies and unfortunately, the pods die too. I've been fairly careful with keeping everything under control. I have copepods (Tigriopus, Tisbe, and Apocyclops) multiplying like crazy in the tank, and turf scrubber after adding them from a known source. It's just finding a known source for amphipods hasn't been so easy.

["Tigriopus, Tisbe, and Apocyclops" ]I'm sorry could you tell me the differences? Also, aren't you concerned about your tank being too sterile?

I tried to go at the same way being careful what I put in the tank, but the first batch of chaeto I put in got me cotton candy algae and aiptasia!  It was the first "live" thing I put in the tank other than 2 bags of live sand.  I found a nice article about these guys: Tank bugs.

I'm pretty sure either Elos in the Colony or Oceans Ave. in Arlington stock pods from Algae Barn. If neither of those LFS carry them, Algae Barn sells direct.https://www.algaebarn.com/I also saw a post in one of the local FB groups for someone selling pods.

Ok, I found them on live aquaria, I'll just wait until they come back in stock and try those out thanks. It seems to be a pretty popular opinion that I have too clean of a system... so what is wrong with a system that is free of nuisance items? What measurable benefit would I get from adding true live rock into the mix? I'm trying to add all of the good things that would have come in on live rock without chancing the bad that can hitch hike in on it too.

I have successfully used the phyto they sell to make more as well... Only problem is that if you keep culturing it you have no idea what you have grown. One strain is going to outcompete the rest most likely. So I'd say you're probably better off ordering a certain strain or strains from somewhere like Florida aquafarms and growing them separately.  Something like THIS

I have an extra; 5280 pods + phyto (buy 1 get 1 free). If anyone wants, $45. https://www.algaebarn.com/product/combo-5280-pods-oceanmagik-phyto/
