When phyto goes bad

it seems phyto has been a subject arising lately, but i would like to know some of your experiences with your phyto going bad. i recently purchased some dt's phyto and it smelled like rotten eggs. i read on melevs that if it smells spoiled its spoiled, is this the spoiled smell that means it has gone bad? on the bottle it says it has a sweet smell if its good, but a strong odor when its gone bad. and also is this harmful if put in the water if it is spoiled.

thanks, chris

Spoiled means you can't use it and must throw it out. When you buy it at the LFS, you need to open the bottle right then and smell it.

The LFS needs to shake the bottle daily, and keep it refrigerated. So do you as the buyer and end user.

alright ill remember that next time. but by spoiled does it become discolored, smell like rotten eggs? just tryin to figure out how to figure it out.

thanks, chris

I've never looked at spoiled phyto, as the bottle wasn't see-through back then. However, if you smell it and it is rotten, don't buy it. Some stores will even open it for you and smell it before it goes out the door, probably to protect themselves from false claims.
