Whats the largest size fish you'd place in a 215 gallon tank

Ya somewhere in the 6 or 7 inch or so range. Maybe a powder blue or simular tang. Definitly a naso or vlamingi, etc would be pushing it!

It depends on the type of fish. I would put a large eel, grouper, or puffer in there.

That depends a lot more on the dimensions of the tank than it does the water volume. Example - a 4' really tall tank would not be as good for large fish as a 6' or 8' long tank.

About 2 years ago I had a thing for Angels. I had about 20 different species of Angels in a 110. Three of which were 9' plus. One was a Show size Blue Face. FYI they make a really cool drumming noise when they get mad. He was about a foot long, my Queen was about 10 inches without her streemers and my Emperor was about a 9 incher.

I also use to manage a store while I was in college and we had a few 220's set up with much larger fits. Just make sure you have plenty of filtration and everything will be fine.
