whats the best Heater?

I need to buy a heater for a 120 tall aquarium and was looking fro opinions on heaters. Which heater would you recommend?
YEAH back in THE Hobby

There's plenty of great ones, but the ones I've been getting of late have been the Visitherm Stealth heaters. They're black and encased in plastic, so you can be pretty rough with them and they won't break. They also automatically shutoff when taken out of water, but I think that's a pretty standard feature on most heaters these days.

One thing I don't like is there's no LED/light to indicate the heater is on, but other than that, it's a great heater.

Marineland makes a heater exactly like this also called stealth that does have a light that's red when heating and green when not. I just got it for my 29 after my old heater crapped out.

That's the same heater I was referring to. I guess they've added a light now. Even better! :)

I have several Stealth heaters in my systems and have had good luck with them. Just a word of advice, most of the thermostats in heaters are not very accurate or dependable, you should plug all of your heaters into a good controller. [smilie=smile.gif]

Here are the new Stealth heaters with the LED enhancement.

I think Im going with a titanium although the stealths are nice. now who has the best deals going on? Fosters and smith always have some kind of special.

well I bought a stealth and it seems to be working ok. Although Bimmer your right the thermo is off 2 degrees and not really very accurate. I do like the lights on top. dont like that its no submersible.

It's not? I submerge mine all the time. I'm pretty sure they're submersible. The only mention in the user guide is "Heater must be immersed in water at
least up to the minimum water level.", so I just make sure it's completely submerged in water.

Do the Stealth heaters float? I have set now that have to be anchored down and I'm tired of dealing with them, not to mention they are a little under sized.

Well this stealth 250w is on a 120 thats to close to awindow and with the temps at 30 degrees its keeping it at 78. Sumerged. Thanx chris. but Im not sure I like the LED on in my tank. kind of freaks me out when it switches.

I just ordered this Jager 250W heater to replace one of two that went out. http://www.reefgeek.com/temperature_control/Heaters/Jager_by_Eheim/Jager_TS_Series_Heater_-_250W_by_Eheim
