What thickness Acrylic for sump?

I'm considering building a sump for my tank. Would I be able to use 3/16" acrylic or would I need to go 1/4". I'm still not too sure what size sump (gal. size) I need.

Watch what you get and where you get it. I got two sheets of "1/4" imported acrylic and found out there are two different sizes of "1/4". One is .224" and the other is.248 I believe. I was given the .224. It worked fine, just letting you know. The imported is a lot less $$$$$ thanks to the price of oil right now.

do you have the dimensions? Either way you probably want to go 1/4 inch or up it is much easier to bond. said:
I have a 100 gal. tank, outside dimensions are 60x19x19

If the sump holds 40g or less, 1/4" material should be just fine. It really come down to how you construct it.
