What kind of garlic do you use for food?

I have been doing some research on garlic and I can't seem to find any good answers. Do you use garlic oil, garlic extract, garlic dosing from marine supplement companies, or what? I am tempted to start trying this, mainly to try and tempt my blue tang to eat nori. So, what do you guys use?

I use real garlic from the grocery store and crush it really good and blend in with my homemade food (basic frozen meaty recipe) before freezing in blocks. The fish seem to love it. I have had ich a couple of times on new fish, but it was very short lived and my existing fish did not catch.

Easy to give it a try. The food cost me maybe $6.00 and will last me at least 6 months.

minced garlic from grocery store. its packed in water, so i use the water from the jar. use it to soak the fish food.

I use the same thing Howard uses. I add more RO/DI water to it as it gets low. said:
I never thought of that. I just tossed it out after it was dry.

I have looked for garlic extract and oil. I haven't found either at the local health stores. Well, I found extract but it was odorless, I think that would take away the garlic being enticing. I will look for seachem and kent products. I want to try the minced garlic water. I wonder if it is as effective? Do I replace the water used from the tank (to thaw the food) and use the water from the minced garlic, instead?

This tang just won't eat nori. All that he eats is the shrimp in the Emerald Cuisine. I hope that is ok!

Chuck:

One of our fish wouldn't eat the nori either until we put the garlic guard on it (he did later on eat it without it) - now they all fight over the nori. Let me know and I will bring you a little bit of it to try (we have a bottle that is almost empty).

Kyolic Liquid Garlic Extract, I am just about to bottom of the only bottle I have ever bought. I THINK I bought it at a GNC 4 years ago.

I switched to fresh garlic after hearing in a presentation at MACNA that it was more effective then other types.

I use Garlic Guard. When I buy a new bottle I pour it into a small spray bottle and use this to spray onto a piece of Nori. I saturate it and they love the stuff. The clown even comes and sniffs around a little seeing what all the excitement is about.

right now I am trying seachem's garlic guard from Mames. I have to be careful with it because my yellow fiji leather completely closes up when the garlic is introduced to the tank. But, on a positive note: my tang is eating Nori and getting fat! :D Obesity is so hot in a fish! Yeah, baby!

Thanks Mitzi!
