What do you add to your top off water?

I am learning it all over again after 7 years out of this hobby. Please help..I know the three major elements are Mag, Ca, and Alk... please advice on what do you add to top off water to keep above three paramenters stable..Thanks

I add Kalkwasser powder to my ATO. I know others dose 2 part but I didn't want to hassle with a dosing setup and the added cost of the gear at this time.

Ok thanks guys. I know about the 2 parts can be purchase from BRS or other places online which can be add by pump or manually.. but they are adding straight into the sump...right? and the top off water is just plain RODI water? Can can you get kalwasser locally? brand? thanks..

"Kalkwasser" is the German word that means 'lime water" in English. Food grade pickling lime can be purchased at most grocery stores on the canning aisle. It comes in a green bag. Do not buy the pickling spice by mistake! The bags are very much alike. Here is an article explaining it's use:

Good read, thanks

Also, if you do use Kalkwasser, I believe that it is recommended to only use it in your top off water if you have a ATO (i.e. adding it in a little bit at a time). If you don't have an ATO system, and add top off water to your system once a day (in one large amount), the Kalk would have a huge spike in your pH and throw things off pretty significantly.
