What are your QT routines?

I recently started to QT any fish I get after losing many fish in the past. Just curious what others are doing for QT.

Thanks,
Mike

Do you do any preventative medicating or just treat them if you see problems?

Off to Frank's Tanks...be back in a few hours..............

No preventative things you can do really other then provide a healthy QT area and quality food. Some people may advise the use of garlic, I don't really see its point. 4 weeks in QT to be sure hes healthy and un-stressed.

If a fish gets ich I treat with copper in the QT tank.

I started by qt'ing everything. The thing i found is that fish usually ick up whenever they get stessed, and if you dont have adequate hiding places, or a large enough qt tank the fish will surely get stessed. I now dont qt anything. I figure the water quality is better and there are more hiding places in my reef, but it just me 2 cents.

I QT everything. With 6 tanks I buy a lot of fish and have seen a lot of parasites. In my opinion ich will clear up on its own with good water quality but other things will not. I had a 72 gallon QT that I used for large fish. I currently am using a 25 gallon QT. I put live rock and sand in my QT so that the fish have places to hide and I don't have to worry about ammonia problems. I only treat if there is a problem.

We still have 7 of our original fish that we have had for almost 6 years.

I QT everything. I have a 39 gallon Hex. I also hyposalinity treat ever fish for at least 3 weeks before bring the salinity back up and then going to the main tank. I have never lost a fish in QT this way and it assures I have no Ich in my tank.
