Water storage tank - Blue barrels

[I have some blue barrels at my work that have food grade propylene glycol. Would these be ok to use as water storage tanks? If so, what would be a good way to clean them out?

Thanks.]

[It sound like it would be. It think that is exactly what Marc used. Don't know how to clean it though.

If you can get extras I would like a couple, please.]

[I don't know what that is, the chemical you described. But if you can rinse it out with water, do so. I filled my barrels with water to the top and overflow, and left the hose running for about 30 minutes. Then I let it soak ovenight. The next day I drained it and let it air dry.

Then I repeated that procedure one more time. You could also pour in 1g of white vinegar in with 54g of water, and let that soak over night.

Smell the container when you are done to see if it smells of the original chemical.]

[Propylene glycol is a derivative of natural gas. It is commonly used in a variety of consumer products and food products, including deodorants, pharmaceuticals, moisturizing lotions, and fat-free ice cream and sour cream products.]
