Water is brown and cloudy????

okay so this happened in about 8 hours....
I did notice color loss and deflation of my mass of calpurna rec.... dont know how to spell that, but the bubbly green plant thing that grows like crazy last night , but my water was still clear.
Well when I got home from class today my water was brown couldnt even see the fish....the bubble stuff was clear and even more deflated.
I did about a 40% water change and replaced filter media! and ripped all of the bubble crap out!
It's slowly but surly clearing up!!!
What the heck happened???

Not sure since the water is brown rather than green. When Caulerpa goes sexual, it leaks out all the green fluid within itself, turns clear, and falls apart within the following 72 hours.

There is a light green tint. This could be a bloom, but it isn't too bad or out of hand. I'd run some fresh carbon every three days to eliminate the from the water.

More importantly, it appears your tank is out of level looking at the water line. The right side doesn't match the left side. This needs to be corrected, carefully.

Everything id fine now , a 30-40% water change and replacing the filter and carbon had it cleared up in no time! but I did rip out all the caulerpa! I have never noticed the off leveling...Thanks!

I thought someone noticed your tank being unlevel before and you said it was just the picture which didnt make sense to me.

it was about when this did happen!!! said:
Thats what i was thinking too. Well just change your flow around , change water on schedule and maybe run some carbon. Mostly just do some small saltwater changes bi-weekly and make sure your freshwater is zero TDS. It will clear up. Like i said in other post depending on you lighting schedule you may want to cut back on lights for a bit and move flow towards the slime and or vacuum it up if you can when doing water changes. Just a little set back

Just remember more fish equals, more food, equals more polution, equals more Fish poop, equals more algal blooms depending on size of tank and skimmer, equals more water changes, equals more salt. I think you said you had a 29 gallon and if your having trouble with red slime or cloudy water issues you might want to wait a bit or slow down some what until you get things in check or up your water change's and flow. Is a koran angel reef safe?? Not knocking you at all just saying.

Oh no, I have a 40 gallon :p

and no a koran angel isn't reef safe, but then again I don't really consider my tank a reef tank.... It only houses mushroom,Zoanthids and anemones.
I haven't done allot of research on the fish yet, just kind've skimmed over it a bit, but I just ordered it... It's no guarantee that I'll go through with the deal and if the red slime isn't deceased or shows signs of decreasing then I for sure won't add anything.

Well 5 have been in there for a little over 5 months and then the tang for about 3months, so I was assuming that the bioload should be somewhat stable, I haven't added anything in well 3 months.

and the cloudy water situation I do know for a fact was due to the caulerpa exploding or whatever you would like to say it did...BOOM! I removed all of the devilish weeds and it was cleared in less then 24 hours....

Water changes ,and the tap water, and the lighting probably need to be tweaked with a little
Sunday is always a good day to spend with the aquarium! ahhhh can't wait!

I appreciate the concern and the feedback!
I'll let you know how the cleaning go's on Sunday!

PS My yellow tang says hello! [smilie=rofl.gif]
