Water cloludy

I am trying to figure out why I cant get very clear water like I see in so many tanks. It's nothing that just popped up its always been kinda cloudy Im just wondering why. Heres my tanks specs. The tanks been running about 4 months. Its a 55 with 2 false percs, 1 baby yellow tang, and a watchmen goby. I have 1 pep shrimp and 1 cleaner shrimp with 9 turbo snails and 10 blue leg hermit crabs, 2 nass snails and a sand sifting star. Any comments would be great.

Posting a pic of the entire setup might help id the issue.
Are you mixing your own salt?
What color of cloudy??
What are your water parameters.
If the water is yellowish and the water parameters & filtration are what they should be, a small amount of carbon in a filter sock & a water clarity product should do the trick.
API makes a water clarity product that works.
If the water is white - consider changing calcium products and/or check your ALK.

I'm using a HOB overflow. The sump just got set up on saturday. Its more of a white cloudy. Nitrates are around 15, 0 Amm, 0 Nitrites. I'll check the others and let you know. I get my saltwater from my LFS.

did you rinse your sand first? Have you added any recently without rinsing?

Are you dosing anything to your tank that could be making it cloudy?

I didnt add any sand. Just chaeto. Im not dosing anything either. I dont have an alk test kit at the moment so I'm not sure if that could be the problem.

Oh I had this problem when I first set up my sump. It was my return flow it was pumping to fast and sucking up air into the return line, hence clouding my tank. So I installed a valve to turn the water flow down. Worked like a charm no more bubble valcano. Perhaps that may work for you.
