Vortech or Wavebox

Im looking to put a something that will create a wave flow in my 90 thats getting setup later this year. Should I go with the Tunze Wave box or the Vortec Pumps on a wave pulse? Please provide your opinions and thoughts. [smilie=nerd.gif] Thanks!
 
I use a tunze nano wavebox along with vortech's on my 90G tank. I have each vortech set independant and use both tidal swell and reefcrest mode's.

if all you are looking for is a wave the wave box. if you want flow and some times a wave the vortech. if you want the best of both worlds then get both. i wish i would have keep my wavebox to use with my vortechs.
 
The tunze wont be enough flow by itself. The Tunze is extremely reliable - so adding a powerhead or two is a great option. I am not a fan of the Vortechs - except when they are working. It's been a few years since I've had one - maybe they made some quality improvements. I would go tunze all the way including their return pump. Ron - two vortechs and a wave box on a 90g? You Got Flow!!

Same stuff I had on the 130G, the 90G is just temporary. Just bought a marineland starphire 150G deep dimension's cube, I may sell my two MP40's and two MP20's and get two MP60's to go with the nano wavebox. [smilie=lol.gif]

What kinds of corals you want to is most important in this decision. I think flowy lps and anemones look and do better with a wave box, especially if you're going for a wave.

If you do sps, I'd do vortecs because they respond better to direct flow over the polyps.
 
This is all great input. The tank will be a mixed reef. I want only a few lps but it will have a ton of zoas cuz I'm obssessed but I really want the top half or so to be SPS dominant.

I was thinking of using tunze all around. I like the mp pumps but don't like their price tag.

You are welcome to come by and look at my tank I run 2 x 6105 and nano wave box and a sea swirl on my returns. Only reason I would add a vortech is for bb function I really prefer tunzes on my sps tank
