VorTech MP40w Pump

Anyone out there that has experience with the VorTech MP40w Propeller Pump? My tank has 3/4" glass, will this pump work with this glass thickness? Their website has 3/4" as the upper end of the specs but you know how manufacturers claims often go.

Thanks

I've got a pair on my tank. They are a great idea, and a real nice step up in the hobby, but they do have flaws. The magnets tend to get out of alignment, and begin to rattle. You don't normally notice it, but if you turn the pump to full speed, you can definately hear it. However, they do have a good 1 year warranty, and are usually good about fixing the problem. As for the 3/4" thickness, I believe you will be okay, because they are rated for that size, but I have heard of them falling off of 1/2 gallas for no reason.
Overall, they are a great product, and can move a ton of water, but they are just not perfected yet.

i have 1/2 inch acrylic and it is hit and miss i have 4 vortecs and two work perfectly, the other two i have had issues of them falling off the tank every now and then.

if it were me i would go with the tunze as they have magnets made for thicker tanks as 3/4 is the limit vortecs will "stick"

I have four of these pumps. Three are on 1/2" glass, and one is on 1/4" acrylic. They work perfectly well, and do not slip. I did get some minor rattling out of one of them, but I ordered a new bearing for the wetside that I think will alleviate that.

3/4" works as well. You just won't use the rubber boot on the dry side, only the flat rubber disk (which arrives stuck against the rubber boot; peel it off to reveal the label underneath).
