Vodka Dosing Questions

Hey everyone! I just recently started vodka dosing (per the instructions of reef central) my SPS heavy reef tank, and have a question for those of you who do the same. The main reason I started dosing is to replace the cost of GFO (I know, I know, Its not a big cost, I just like the control of dosing set amounts). Before I started dosing, my parameters were 0.00 no3 and around .02 po4 (Salifert and Hannah). My first question is, if nitrates are undetectable with my salifert test kit, can I still dose vodka just to keep po4 right where it is around .2 or do I need nitrates present in order to "equally" reduce both parameters? To sum it up, if no no3 is present can I still dose vodka to keep phosphate low? Also, if anyone that has been dosing has any advice, I would LOVE to hear it. Thanks guys!

you don't need nirates present to dose. just start slow and increase over time. if p04 and nitrates don't move then just keep that dose.
