I am working on a VHO lighting fixture I purchased used. Here is a picture.

So far I have replaced all 4 bulbs, 2 endcaps, the 660 ballast, and the wiring harness. I still need to replace the fan.

I mounted the ballast in between the reflector and the fixture housing but now am not sure about that idea.

Also I need a mounting system to get this fixture over my tanks that do not have a canopy. I suppose I could suspend it from the ceiling but since I have never done that I am hesitant. I could also make some kind of acrylic stand for it to be on sitting on top of my tanks.

I need some ideas please.

first off i would keep the ballast away from fixture due to moisture and added weight. you can use wire loom to make the wiring look neater coming out of the fixture to the ballast. On the hanging, if you have a one story hose and theres an attic space you can do it many ways but the way i would do it is mount it to the frame structure if possible. you can use threaded eye hooks and run steel cable or for a neater look drill tiny holes just big enough for the cables and mount the hooks in the attic. i dont know if you understand what im talking about but LMK if you have any questions.

Do you have a recommendation for a hanging kit? There are several out there and I don't know what to look for.
