Vertex alpha 250 help!

Just curious if there are any fellow reefers that know these skimmers well. My skimmer constantly overflows. When I say constantly I mean I can turn the standpipe any direction and nothing brings the level down. It's sitting in 9 inches of water. Any help would be appreciated.
 
You have the new screw type Venturi or the push tube type?

Screw type should start all way in the most is two full turns turns. If push pull type push it half way in.

If those don't fix it

1. Is this a new skimmer?

2. You done chemiclean?

It is not new. Here is a pick of the skimmer. I haven't used any chemiclean. This is a new tank. The pump seems to be working properly and the skimmer is solid as can be. Hope this helps.

If new tank it and a skimmer has not been run on it that is normal in my experience. Raise the skimmer an inch or two and run it wide open.

Push the venturi volute almost all the way in.

It's working like a champ. It's way overkill for this tank so I'm probably not going to keep it on this tank. Thank you for the advice. It overflowed for about an hour I just set the drain tube in a bucket. It was just new tank gunk like you said. Tanks again.
