ventralis anthius

hi Guys has anyone had any luck with these fish? Ventralis Anthius I am reading that they are difficult to keep and they like water temps at 76deg. I didn't know if anyone had any luck maybe running higher water temps with these guys. I am asking because I want to buy a mated pair but I don't really want to stress the rest of my fish and corals out to get my temperatures down to 76 . Any input would greatly appreciated they are exspensive and I don't want to wast the money if I can't keep them.

76 degrees max. You are going to have to be serious about a chiller and its associated electric bill here in Texas.
I keep the house at 72 and without a chiller even my 45 gallon bio cube gets up to 78 or 79 during the day with lights.

thanks for the info, I don;t have any problems keeping my tank at 76deg. I just don;t want to stress the rest of my fish and coral out just for these 2, although they are very beautiful fish.

I would suggest cooling the tank off 1-2 degrees at a time. Do it over a few day period so your fish and corals don't get shocked!

These are very difficult to care for, needing almost continuous feeding, especially initially. Also, Shse666 is right about 76 max! <74 would be best. Unless you've had success with other difficult anthias, I'd avoid them.

I am actually quite curious about this fish as well. I wanted to put some in my tank but opted for the Lyretail based on priced and husbandry requirements. I see that everyone i saying these need to be kept at 76 deg max but they are from the Cook Islands and in the summer the water there gets to be 86 deg. I see this fairy often when looking up fish but when I look up their natural habitats it seems they are totally different than the "requirements"

I believe it's because they are found in deep water.

Here is a good read
