Urchin in sump

What is everyone's take on placing an urchin, or other critters in the refugium section of a sump. I am not new to the reef world, but I am new to sumps and fuge's. I currently have a fuge that is teeming with caulerpa taxifolia (I think, I got it at DNA). The urchin I have is currently in my 12ga pod, but I was considering putting him in the fuge. He likes to eat the algae, I put some in the pod for him from time time. Currently the only other animal in the fuge is a turbo snail, and several micro brittle stars. I was going to add him to help keep the sides clean and mow back some of the algae. The urchin is a pincushion by the way.
Thanks.

i have an urchin in my refugium. When I first put it in the refugium 4 weeks ago it was the size of a pencil eraser, now it is the size of a silver dollar. (Apparently, I don't care about scratches. If you saw the refugium/sump you'd understand)

I've got one in the small refugium section in my nano (24g) and he's doing great, keeping it clear and not muching much (if at all) on the cheato. He's been in there for about 8 months.
