Upgrading to 55 Gallon not going so well

Ok here is my problem decided I would upgrade my 29 gallon to a 55 gallon while it is still new. So I set up the 55 gallon but instead of usung the existing sustate I decided to buy 2 - 20 pound bags of the live argonite reef sand - the one that is already mixed with water and say all you have to do is add water.. Well placed that into the tank last night and started adding water to it of course pooring on a plate not to disrupt the sand well I got to about 25 gallons added and figured I would use the water from the 29 to finish filling the tank but from looking at the water it was all cloudy so I left it alone last night with just a heater to maintain the proper temp... Well this morning it has not cleared up at all still very cloudy... What should I do the sand read do not rinse just add water !!!
Should I pump all of the water out and start over and if I do whats to say it will not cloud up again.. Thank heaven I did not disrupt my 29 gallon yet I would have no place to put my Live stock ... Any suggestions Please HELP!!!

Sorry I didnt know this was the wrong thread for the question...
OK so let me get this right even though it is cloudy I should go ahead and start adding in the LR I also was thing about taking a little of my old substate and spread out over the top of the sand the old substrate is crushed coral and puka shells. Would this be a wise move??

The old substrate does have alot of copepods and othe little animals in it and alot of purple algae growing on the puka shells looks really nice...

And Finally Should I start moving my livestock yet even though water is cloudy or should I wait for it to clear up first...

Thanks for all the Help
Joe

it will settle, it is nothing to worry about. the way i was told is that it is like a storm hitting a reef...it is going to kick up a sand storm, but it will settle.

i say put the 29 gallon water in there, and the livestock.

Once you add the LR to the tank, it will clear up much faster.

Puka shells?

Yeah Puka Shells - A mix of tiny shells and shell halves - bought them at petsmart along with the crushed coral before I knew anything about this site or the marine hobby just trying to get started. It stated on the bag that was good for marine aquriums for maintaining proper ph... I will tell you this grows very nice purple algae on them looks really nice and my crabs love them cause they can keep switching shells Very funny to watch.... They switch to a different shel prob every other day

I am really thinking of keeping some of them just to spead a little across the sand but not sure yet waiting for more options....

Let me know
Joe

You can add some of that old substrate to your new tank if you want. Just spread it around sparingly, very sparingly. Add yes go ahead add the liverock and let the pumps run, it should clear up quickly. As far as the livestock, I would wait till you see it clear up. You do not have to wait till it is crystal clear, just headed in the right direction.

Ok so I have one for put LR and livestock and another for Just LR until clears a little any other options are very welcome cause I am planning on starting on it tonight when I get off @ 8pm... I will take pictures and document everything with this tank sort of a aquaography the life of my 55gal. haha ... Hey maybe I will find that peppermint shrimp that has been missing about a month now

When I moved my 55 to a different location in the house, I had the same problem with cloudy water. I just left the filter/sump running and I doubled the use of activated carbon. After a few hours... the water was amazingly crystal clear! Then after two days, I went back to the recommened dosage of carbon.

Sand settling on top of most corals should be ok also. Most will produce a slime and trap any settlements in it. Your powerhead/wavemaker will blow that "stuff" off.

Well luckly the water has cleared up quite a bit not... Also using the carbon filter is a good idea I may dig up my filter and try. Thing is right now I am just using a protein skimmer and power heads no other equip I will try to let the LS and LR do all the work on this tank and see what happens ... I will keep you all updated

Thanks
Joe
