Upgrade Pump for Coralife Super Skimmer

My friend has a Coralife Super Skimmer NW 220, that is not working great. I told him he needs to get rid of it and get a better performing skimmer. But he thinks he might just want to upgrade the pump and see where it goes from there. He is not much of a DIYer so he is not interested in the mesh mod.

Does anyone know the details of the pumps specs that is provided with this skimmer.

I was thinking of suggesting a Mag 7 w/needle wheel attachement or going with a Sedra 5000 NW pump.
 
Tell him to hook a small air pump to the air intake. That will make the skimmer work much more effectively with the original pump.
 
I have the same question your friend does only I was trying to find an Eheim needle wheel pump for my 65. I know Eheim makes one I just cannot find where to order.
 
we ended up doing the fish wire mod and it worked pretty good, he is satisfied with the mod. but trying to get him to do more mods :D I keep telling him if it brakes it's no biggie and get him to get anything but a coralife.
 
I emailed Eheim and they said to get this pump. It has a needle wheel.
EHEIM 1103 skimmer pump with a maximum flow of 713 GPH
